PR Log (Press Release) –
Mar 22, 2010 – Those who were familiar with the concept of storing their cars, RV’s, bikes and other belongings at a storage unit in Dubai were highly benefitted during the floods.
The first few months of the year are never dull for the citizens of Dubai. The weather is usually pleasant and calm. But this year the month of February was unwelcomed in UAE. As the drainage system in Dubai is not highly equipped to manage a sudden pour of rain water, this city was faced with a stand still. Life was interrupted for a few days and was also changed for many after the food that took place on the 27th of February 2010.
In UAE, Dubai and Sharjah were tremendously affected by the floods. Many families turned homeless and lost their possessions as well. Insurance companies denied their customers of providing insurance for damaged vehicles as this was the case of a natural disaster and not an accident or another situation. But those who were familiar with the concept of storing their cars, RV’s, bikes and other belongings at a storage unit in Dubai were highly benefitted this time. Sharjah doesn’t have many storage companies, but lucky for Dubai there were around ten storage facilities that people could choose from.
Since storage facilities are built on a height the belongings or vehicles placed in them were completely safe from the flood water. Of course only those vehicles that weren’t so much in use were entrusted to the Dubai storage facilities. Therefore, at least some of Dubai’s possessions remained undamaged in spite of the floods.
People were warned about the rainfall that was going to take place. Few paid heed to the messages and news on the television and radio. But those who decided to act smartly before time, did manage to save some of what they had by rightly storing their valuables in a rented unit.
If not floods, then extreme heat or cold could extract the best out of belongings. In times of unpredictable climatic conditions in Dubai, citizens prefer saving their belongings only at storage facilities in Dubai.
The Box is a reputed storage company in Dubai. They offer diverse solutions like self-storage, removals, packaging, transportation, documentary/inventory storage and many other services. This facility is strategically located in the Al Quoz area, central to the boundaries of Dubai.

Used Caravans – Advice on Purchasing Used Caravans on a Budget
PR Log (Press Release) –
Mar 19, 2010 – Although some argue that camping with tents and woodland fires is the epitome of the perfect summer holiday, a caravan gives you many of those facets as well as a numerous home comforts.
Used caravans (http://www.greentrees-adventurestore.co.uk/caravan-searc ...) are not the beat-up, ramshackle motorhomes that potential customers may imagine. In fact a number of high quality caravans boast refurbished interior and exterior areas, returning the vehicle to an almost brand new state.
Contrary to popular belief, size does matter – particularly when it comes to purchasing used caravans or motorhomes. A larger living and kitchen area gives you the opportunity to cook and clean, whilst having enough space to host friends and family without living on top of each other!
Although used caravans are much cheaper than brand new models, they are still a significant financial outlay. By checking the quality of doors and windows, gas and electric systems and the amount of damp inside and outside the van you will avoid making a disastrous purchase.
All genuine used caravans (http://www.greentrees-adventurestore.co.uk/caravan-searc ...) should come with a formal service history and original handbook to allow new owners to maintain their used motorhome in the best possible manner.
An added bonus when searching for used caravans is when one comes furnished with essential accessories that can cost an arm and a leg when purchasing brand new. It may be worth considering purchasing a vehicle fully stocked with appliances and furnishings to avoid excess outgoings in future months.

Recently released market study: United States Freight Transport Report Q2 2010
PR Log (Press Release) –
Mar 08, 2010 – Representatives from the US West Coast ports of Los Angeles, Long Beach, Tacoma, Seattle and Portland appealed to US Congress for financial support to stem falling trade volumes from Asia. West Coast ports have seen throughout volumes decline in recent years as they face increasing competition from Ports in Canada and Mexico and from the Panama and Suez Canals. According to Washington's News Tribune, West Coast port authorities are seeking a bill to increase investment in the intermodal links that connect the ports to the country's main inland ports in the Mid West. Increased funding will improve the speed and efficiency of transporting goods via the US coast and overland and increase the ports' competitiveness. Director of the Port of Tacoma, Tim Farrell, said, 'we need a well-thought-out, strategic freight policy' we need to focus on corridors from Shanghai to Chicago or Tokyo to Houston'. Pacific coast ports are the traditional route of entry for US Asian imports with more than 70% of transpacific shipments reaching US markets via the West Coast. Major ports such as Los Angeles and Long Beach have become a victim of their own success in recent years - despite their size, they have struggled to cope with growing cargo volumes - the result of the growth of China's export sector and rising US demand for Chinese goods. This latest issue of BMI's US Transport Report predicts that over the 2009-2013 forecast period, overall freight carried across all transport modes will grow by an annual average of 1.2%, measured in million tonnes-km (mntkm). This will lag predicted economic growth which we see averaging 1.4%. Both numbers have been pulled down by the recession that we see as being the dominant story of 2009-2010. By transport mode, we see growth being led by rail freight (1.6% per annum), followed by airfreight (1.4%), road haulage (1.2%), shipping (0.9%) and pipeline throughput (0.7%). Companies will be monitoring the fall in demand for freight to assess when the bottom of the cycle has been reached and when to anticipate a possible recovery. We expect transport and communications GDP to grow to US$1.143trn by 2013, representing 6.6% of US GDP. The protectionist trend in US freight transport first hit the headlines early in 2006, when US Congress broke ranks with President George W. Bush and successfully opposed the sale of a controlling interest in six key ports (including New York, Philadelphia, and Miami) to Dubai Ports World (DPW) on security grounds. Under intense political pressure DPW, which acquired the ports through its takeover of London-based Peninsular & Oriental (P&O), then agreed to sell its US interests to a third party, an American International Group (AIG) unit. Similar protectionist trends have shown up in the aviation sector, where Congress and trade unions held back plans to give foreign investors a greater say in the running of US-based airlines. At the beginning of 2009 another international player, Deutsche Post-owned DHL, withdrew from the domestic US express delivery market after years of losses. Congress also rejected long-standing proposals to allow Mexican trucks to deliver cargo across the US. The exception, perhaps because it has gone largely unnoticed, has been road transport, where a series of foreign toll-road operators have been buying large stakes in US roads. But here too there are signs of greater caution. BMI believes the Obama government remains under continuing pressure to take a protectionist stance on a range of trade and transport issues, but since taking office has shown itself minded to hold back from moving too far in that direction. As the largest economy in the world, it could be argued that there is already enough internally-generated competitive drive in the US freight business. BMI disagrees, taking the view that even major US companies could improve their performance by being exposed to greater external competition. Major US airlines have, despite some exceptions and recent improvements, piled up massive losses and have been in and out of bankruptcy protection. There has been a notorious lack of new investment in the country's pipeline and refinery infrastructure, exposed during Hurricane Katrina.

RTEC to supply the latest driving-related cognitive assessment and training technology
PR Log (Press Release) –
Mar 04, 2010 – The Road and Traffic Education Centre (RTEC) in Auckland has joined forces with Navon Brain Fitness Solutions to bring to New Zealand the latest version of Israeli cognitive assessment and training technology that is specifically designed to predict collision risk and promote safer driving.
RTEC supply three different versions of the programs to cater for the needs of new, fleet and senior drivers. The Managing Director Tony Williams said “We’re excited by this technology for several reasons. The programs assess each driver’s cognitive and perceptual strengths and weakness so we can identify and address potentially lethal deficiencies before they get behind the wheel. This is of great comfort not only to parents of student drivers but also fleet managers as they can use the assessment technology to avoid very expensive hiring mistakes.” Mr Williams went on to say “the technology comes with a great reporting platform so we can not only record assessment results but also keep drivers and fleet managers up to date with how their training is progressing and the improvements being made. It’s an online program so we can offer this to young drivers to do at home before they come to us for lessons. Likewise we can service the needs of fleet managers off-site and in multiple locations”.
It’s great to have the support of Navon who supply the technology to us and give us all the technical support we need.
For more information contact Tony Williams at RTEC on 0800 754 3227 or visit the website www.rtec.co.nz

Winston-Salem, NC Used Car Dealer Exclaims: "SNOW BLOWS!"
PR Log (Press Release) –
Mar 01, 2010 – Snow Blows, Myers says jokingly. All this bad weather has made it impossible for us to get shipments of new inventory. In the past few months weve been selling cars like theyre going out of style. says Myers. Im not about to let the bad weather slow us down so Im forced to do something drastic in order to keep inventory levels high and maintain momentum.
Wacky winter weather across the nation has stalled car sales for many car dealers just when things started looking up for the downtrodden industry.
Heavy snowfall across the country has grounded vehicle shipments and left dealers in a lurch. The unusual weather has also kept dealers from being able to travel to auto auctions to replenish their vehicle stock.
Winston-Salem car dealers have not been spared but one local dealer isnt taking the problem lying down. Tracy Myers, owner of Frank Myers Auto Maxx, says hes up for the challenge and isnt going to let a silly thing like snow steal his momentum.
Myers is bound and determined to sell cars (and get cars) even if that means losing some money to keep the momentum going and to make sure his staff stays busy.
My grand plan to get fresh inventory despite the logjam at the auction will benefit you and the community in a big way, Myers explains. Anyone that buys ANY Certified vehicle from us, Im going to pay off their trade...no matter how much they owe. This is the only way I can think of to get the cycle flowing.
It doesnt matter what make or model youre driving or how old the vehicle is. It doesnt matter how many payments you have left. Vehicles are needed and dealership personnel are pulling out all the stops to keep the inventory levels at a normal level.
Its a bold move and an amazing opportunity only available for the next 27 days at Frank Myers Auto Maxx.
Frank Myers Auto Maxx will pay off your trade when you buy ANY of their Certified vehicles regardless of your payoff amount. This makes it the perfect time for you to upgrade to a nicer, newer vehicle and it puts more cars on Uncle Frank's lot. And he looks at it as the ultimate win/win scenario.
Is it the best option for us? No, says Myers. In fact well probably take a loss on some of the cars we pay off but its better than losing momentum and having a lot that looks empty which we know will drive away customers.
Myers assures us that there are plenty of vehicles to choose from right now. But he doesnt want his inventory to get so depleted that the dealership looks bare because thats bad for business.
Myers says that credit challenged buyers can thank Jack Frost for a better than ever chance of being approved for a nicer, newer vehicle.
Due to this weird weather were doing what ever it takes to continue to sell cars. Im pulling out all the stops and cashing in all my favors with the banks and lending institutions. Ive pre-notified them that Im going to need their help to keep the momentum up and they are willing to help. My EVERYBODY RIDES Program will be in full swing, explains Myers.
The EVERYBODY RIDES" Program is a program thats only available at Frank Myers Auto Maxx. Its a consumer focused credit approval process that takes the person into consideration not just their financial statistics.
Its the personal approach to lending that so many financial institutions have forgotten about. Ive put humanity back in the credit process and its working amazingly well for us. I believe if you take care of people, theyll take care of you. Thats why my "EVERYBODY RIDES" program works when everyone else cant get the job done, boasts Myers.
Bad credit or good, Myers is making it hard to resist the temptation to get out of your old car and into a nicer, newer one. They are ready to pay off your old car no matter how much you own on it. Perhaps the old saying is true, even a snow cloud has a silver lining.
Because of the nature of this exclusive opportunity Myers expects that hell be successful and momentum will actually increase. He suggests scheduling a VIP test drive by calling 866-242-1277 or visit Frank Myers Auto Maxx at 4200 North Patterson Avenue in Winston-Salem, NC and mention you saw this video on YouTube for priority access to one of his Non-Commissioned Sales Pros.
--In A Nutshell—
Heres What You Need To Know About The Snow Blows Loan Payoff Event:
•Bad weather has made it impossible to get new inventory
•Frank Myers Auto Maxx needs to buy more cars, so theyll pay off your current loan or lease in full when you buy ANY of their Certified vehicles.
•Bring in your current vehicle and most recent loan or lease statement
•Banks have been notified of the extenuating circumstances and are standing buy to help as many buyers as possible
•This offer expires March 31 , 2010
•Only at Frank Myers Auto Maxx.

Independent Garages And Tyre Dealers To Become Tyre Safety Champions
PR Log (Press Release) –
Feb 24, 2010 – Independent garages and tyre dealers can now demonstrate their support for tyre safety and the welfare of their customers by becoming an official TyreSafe tyre safety champion. As a tyre safety champion garages will receive a promotional pack containing a range of marketing materials that can be used to attract customers into the dealership and then educate them about tyre safety, helping to cut the number of deaths and accidents on the UK’s roads.
“Campaigns such as tyre safety month have received fantastic levels of support from independent garages and tyre dealers across the UK so we know it is an important area for them and their customers,” explains Stuart Jackson, chairman, TyreSafe. “The launch of the new promotional packs and tyre safety champion status will allow garages to show their commitment and concern for the safety of their customers. In addition, it will give them a set of high-quality resources at a low-cost that allows them to develop their own tyre safety campaigns. These can then be integrated into their own marketing plans and run at a time that is convenient to that individual business.”
To receive a promotional pack, garages simply need to visit the TyreSafe website (www.tyresafe.org/tyrechampion) and complete the secure online order form, including payment details to cover the £25 (+VAT) charge. Included within the pack is a tyre safety DVD presented by motoring journalist Quentin Willson which gives advice on how to check tyre tread depth, a selection of tyre safety posters, 50 customer tyre safety information leaflet and an official personalised certificate highlighting the garage’s tyre safety champion status.
When garages order their initial promotional pack, they are also asked to indicate the particular tyre sectors which are relevant to them, such as 4x4, motorcycle or van tyres. By selecting the relevant areas, the champion will then receive notifications about any additional campaigns and promotional packs that are developed for their specific customer type.
“Our latest figures estimate that there could be as many as 3.6 million cars on the UK’s roads with at least one illegal tyre,” continues Jackson. “There is clearly a massive opportunity for independent garages and tyre dealers to help promote important safety messages and educate drivers about the importance of correct tyre care. We believe the promotional packs will be popular and successful with independents and help to reduce the number of people killed or injured on the roads as a result of illegal or defective tyres.”
To find out more or to register for a promotional pack, independent garages and tyre dealers should visit www.tyresafe.org.

Transportation Analyst, Andy Ahern of Ahern & Associates Assists Dependable Highway Express (DHE)
PR Log (Press Release) –
Feb 24, 2010 – Phoenix, AZ— Transportation management and consulting firm, Ahern & Associates has acted for a third time in a management consulting capacity as acquisition advisors to DHE, a division of The Dependable Companies in their latest acquisition of Matheson Fast Freight.
Los Angeles based The Dependable Companies continues its steadfast growth and acquisition strategy by further expanding its LTL capabilities throughout California and Nevada with its eleventh acquisition since 2000. Operating out of Elk Grove, CA, Matheson Fast Freight is one of the west coast’s most respected LTL carriers with several full service terminals located throughout California and Nevada and will be incorporated into The Dependable Companies’ trucking division.
Bringing together The Dependable Companies and Matheson Fast Freight is renowned trucking analyst, Andy Ahern of Ahern & Associates. Working closely with Ron Massman, CEO of The Dependable Companies, Ahern’s duty was to present viable trucking acquisition targets that blend well with The Dependable Companies’ culture while furthering their overall growth strategy.
“We’ve worked with Ahern & Associates on previous acquisition deals and they’ve always done a great job,” explains Massman. “I’ve known Andy for a long time and have an appreciation for the way he operates.”
With over two decades of experience in transportation mergers and acquisitions, Ahern has built an impeccable reputation as the industry’s leading analyst and acquisition specialist. Ahern’s experience has also afforded him the ability to call on a considerable catalogue of contacts which allow him to create markets where none may have previously existed. Many of the prospective targets Ahern locates are often looking for an exit strategy for their trucking or logistics business, but lack the proper planning and strategy needed.
“We really enjoyed working with The Dependable Companies for the third time and are pleased that we were able to present an acquisition target that not only fulfilled Dependable’s needs, but also strengthens the trucking industry as a whole,” explains Andy Ahern, CEO of Ahern & Associates.
The Dependable Companies’ acquisition of Matheson Fast Freight complements the latest trend in trucking which seems to be an industry-wide merging of trucking and logistics companies as the transportation industry further emerges from the recession.

New Research Report: Japan Autos Report Q2 2010
PR Log (Press Release) –
Feb 19, 2010 – Despite the positive effect of government subsidies on Japan's new vehicle sales, BMI has lowered its sales forecast for 2009 to a decline of 11% based on results for the first nine months of the year. Sales fell 15.5% y-o-y, with none of the vehicle segments achieving positive growth. Industry sales totalled 3,404,065, comprising passenger car sales of 2,893,938 units (-14%), truck sales of 500,076 units (- 23.15%), and bus sales of 10,051 (-19.44%). The worst performance came from the standard truck segment, which contracted almost 45%. These results do show a marginal improvement from H109, however, when total sales were down by over 20% y-o-y. Two underlying trends in industry sales became apparent in September. Firstly, government incentives to encourage the purchase of fuel efficient vehicles are paying dividends, and secondly, sales of imported vehicles, even those produced by Japanese carmakers abroad, are on the slide. The Toyota Prius retained its position at the head of the market for the third straight month, while further proof of the impact of tax breaks on hybrid and small fuel efficient cars comes from Honda, which takes second place with its Fit compact and third place with its hybrid rival to the Prius, the Insight. Japan stays in fourth in BMI's Business Environment Ratings for the automotives industry in Asia Pacific, with an overall rating of 61.1 from a possible 100. The risks associated with a developed market still exist, however. Just as Australia and South Korea suffer disadvantages due to their developed statuses, a saturated market also weighs on Japan's ratings. While the country scores well in terms of its country risk, with low levels of corruption and a sound legal framework that have bumped up the market's overall score, the auto industry is nearing full capacity, and this consequently reduces production growth potential, while the high level of vehicle ownership restricts possible sales growth. Labour costs are also high, which adds to the cost of expanding production. Despite, the relatively high ranking data for the first nine months of 2009 show every manufacturer posting a decline in sales compared with the same period of 2008 as the 12 domestic manufacturers registered combined sales of 3.404mn units, down 15.49% y-o-y. This was a marginal improvement on H109, when sales were down by over 20% y-o-y, as August registered the first positive sales growth for 13 months (2.3%). However, by September sales were down again by 3% y-o-y. All but three of the domestic brands recorded a double-digit decline in sales, with Nissan Diesel registering the weakest performance as its sales fell 49.95%, although this again was an improvement from its H109 drop of over 56% y-o-y. Small car specialist Daihatsu Motor was the strongest brand, relatively speaking, as its sales fell just 8.06% y-o-y.

Singapore Airlines Flies High In Global 500…but Other Airline Brands Forced To Make
PR Log (Press Release) –
Feb 17, 2010 – The combined brand value of the world’s top five airline brands has risen by 4.7% over the last year. This has resulted in all but one falling down the table of the world’s most valuable brands, according to the annual Brand Finance Global 500 survey published this week by Brand Finance plc, the world’s leading brand valuation consultancy.
Singapore Airlines, outperforming Lufthansa, American Airlines and Japan Airlines in the annual table, tops the aviation sector in this year’s report, climbing from 246 to be ranked 224, with a 32% increase in brand value from US$2.7 billion to US$3.6 billion.
The only airline introduced in this year’s Global 500 brands league table is Continental Airlines at ranking 477. Between them, Air France, British Airways and United Airlines have dropped by an average of 90 places in this year’s table to 310, 456 and 478 respectively.
Elsewhere in the report, the aerospace sector is dominated in this year’s survey by Boeing, which rose two places to ranking 111 on the back of a 21% increase in brand value. Dutch-owned Airbus climbed twenty places to 352 after itself registering an impressive 44% rise in its brand worth.

PR Log (Press Release) –
Feb 08, 2010 – To find a cheap car rental when traveling in Singapore, you will get more freedom to go wherever and whenever you want. You won't need to depends on Mrt, Lrt, bus, or taxi anymore. All what you need is an international driver's permit or local driving license that allows you to rent a car in Singapore.
* Reserve your cheap car rental internet sites instead of over the counter ones at the desk. Internet sites like http://rentalcarsingapore.com/ offer internet discount which could be very ideal for you, cheap car rentals can be achieved by being smart and ask, put discounts or offers like these to your advantages and you’ll be sure to save a lot.
*
* If you're booking online, read the terms and conditions carefully before confirming your reservation. If you're booking over the phone, ask the desk if there are any restrictions. Be sure you understand the conditions of your reservation. Is there a penalty for no-shows or deposit forfeited? How long will the car be held for you if you're stuck in traffic on the way to the pickup point? Will they wait for you? Is there any fee for additional drivers and must their names be listed in the contract?
*
* One way to get cheap car rentals is to try to get the most out of it to be fair to yourself. Most car rentals require you to fill the tank when you return it, so on your way to returning the rented car, fill it up with the cheapest type of petrol you could find, you’ll save more than when they make you pay for the gas at their own rate. Don't be lazy.
*
* For a cheap car rental, try to make reservations as early as possible, car rental companies give discounts for customers who reserve early. always rent at only one Car Company, companies give you cheap car rentals for frequently renting their cars, discounts, coupons and sometimes even deals.
*
* If you’re going to use the car for more than five days try to find weekly rates like Monday-Friday / Friday-Monday / Weekly basis from car rentals, with weekly rates, the sixth and seventh day are almost always discounted, so look for this when you’re out for a cheap car rental.
*
* Instead of picking up your rental at the airport, save money by picking it up at the shop, this’ll reduce airport surcharges too.
*
* If you are taking the rental car from an airport to a hotel for the night, why not take a shuttle van or public transport to the hotel instead? Doing this may save you the price of a day's rental. Isn't it true? Even if you must drive the same day your flight lands, you may not have to get the car at the airport. By picking it up downtown, you can often avoid hefty airport surcharges.
*
* Familiarize yourself with the operation of the car before you leave the parking lot. Check which side your petrol tank is on, and learn how to use the headlights, windshield wipers and turn signal. It may seem obvious, but you'll also want to memorize the make, model and color of your car -- that way you won't lose it the first time you park in a busy lot!
*
* Before leaving the vehicle, check to be sure you haven't left any personal belongings. Don't forget to check the boot! The most common lost articles include cash card, parking coupons, handphones, sunglasses and umbrellas.

VMAC Business Group to hold Cold Chain Management Workshop on 16th & 17th May 2010 at Dubai.
PR Log (Press Release) –
Jan 28, 2010 – DUBAI, JAN 29: The global leading business intelligence company, VMAC Business Group will be organising a 2 day workshop themed “Cold Chain Management” on 16th & 17th May 2010 at Dubai, UAE.
Cold Chain is a temperature-controlled supply chain where it aims for an unbroken series of temperature-controlled management from procurement of the raw materials right down to the consumers. By having good Cold Chain management, it preserves the quality approach to manufacturing that would minimise or ideally eliminate instances of mix-ups, contaminations and errors in the midst of productions, transportations and distributions.
According to research carried out by a reputable research organisation, companies in the Middle East are very much aware of cold chain management. However, many of them are facing challenges due to the harsh weather of the region and also lacking suitable temperature-control facilities within the premise of some clients. In order to be competitive in the industry, organisations need to acquire an in-depth knowledge in managing the world-class cold chain process.
Cold Chain Management Workshop offers a valuable opportunity for practitioners of logistics, distribution and operations to share their knowledge database on the best practices employed within the field of transporting temperature-sensitive products. Additionally this workshop will be the ideal platform for delegates as well as the speakers to hold stimulating discussions with regards to cold chain management.
To know more about Cold Chain Management workshop, please do not hesitate to contact us at +603-2615 9499 or download event brochure

New Research Report: Singapore Freight Transport Report Q1 2010
PR Log (Press Release) –
Jan 20, 2010 – According to reports in April, Singapore-based shipping group Neptune Orient Lines (NOL) was expecting a net loss of US$240mn in Q109, which would come on the back of a net loss of US$149mn in Q408. The declining figures are mainly due to a slowdown in international container-shipping operations. The company is expecting this trend to continue for the rest of 2009. NOL has increased its cost-saving target from US$250mn to US$550mn in order to offset the declining financial figures. NOL anticipates reporting a loss for full-year 2009, and has already reduced capacity on trans-Pacific and Asia-Europe routes by 20% and 25%, respectively. The company has delayed the delivery of some of the 28 vessels on its orderbook until 2012, and over this period will also remove 22 vessels from its fleet as charters expire. BMI believes the declining trade volume can be attributed to the deteriorating business environment and cost pressures. BMI's newly released Singapore Freight Transport Report concludes that because of global economic cooling, the country's maritime freight volume will rise by an annual average of only 0.5% throughout the 2009-2013 forecast period. Our shipping forecast is based on a number of factors. Our forecast for Singapore's average GDP growth over 2009-2013 now stands at 0.8%, largely because of the sharp contraction this year. NOL and other Singapore-based companies have established themselves as worldclass players. We expect them to be significantly affected, but manage the global downturn reasonably well and position themselves for eventual recovery, despite the growing competitive challenge from Chinese ports. Other transport modes will all be affected by the recession. We are forecasting 0.9% annual growth in air freight over the next five years. Overall, we now expect average annual growth in freight tonnage across all modes to total 0.6% in the 2009-2013 period. With an aggregate score of 63.7 out of a theoretical maximum of 100, Singapore scores well in BMI's freight ratings for the Asia Pacific region, coming out comfortably above the regional average. Its strong rating stems from low long-term political and economic risk and a strong regulatory environment, as well as a moderate, but healthy rate of infrastructure growth. For the 2009-2013 period, we expect the transport and communications sector to be on a par with the economy as a whole, with both forecast to achieve average annual growth of 0.8%. The total value of transport and communications GDP will rise to US$21.7bn in nominal terms by 2013, representing 12.1% of Singapore's GDP

New Cuniguard Antifouling Brings Major Savings To Boat Owners
PR Log (Press Release) –
Jan 06, 2010 – Despite its long lasting effectiveness, CuNiGuard does not release harmful biocides into the environment. The system can also provide boat owners with relief from the annual chore of lifting-out their craft to apply a new coating of expensive antifouling paint. Because of this a boat can, in theory, be left in the water year after year which can save costs and will also be particularly beneficial to blue water sailors.
Visitors to the London International Boat Show (Jan 8 - 17, London ExCeL Centre) will be able to see CuNiGuard on the Permateek stand (N026N) and appreciate the quality of the coating by also visiting the stand of Discovery Yachts Ltd (D018). This company is exhibiting its new Discovery 50 catamaran which is designed for ocean cruising and has been given a long-lasting protective coat of CuNiGuard.
CuNiGuard is a new product developed and manufactured in Britain by part of the well-established decking producer, Permateek. It is a process that combines the traditional antifouling characteristics of copper (Cu) with the durability of nickel (Ni). A complete layer of copper nickel is professionally sprayed onto a specially formulated epoxy resin base coat. This process ensures that the only substance in contact with the water is copper nickel. The epoxy base coat lies beneath the outer copper nickel layer and does not interfere with its protective qualities. This ensures an even surface coverage that provides total protection.
The precise combination of the two metals creates an alloy that erodes more slowly than copper alone. Upon immersion in seawater, the copper oxide film present on the CuNiGuard outer layer will react with the water to form a thin slippery surface covering of cuprous oxide . This layer will create an inhospitable environment for most marine life forms and yet is not toxic and results in one of the most effective antifouling systems available. The use of an epoxy resin binder provides the further benefit of protecting steel hulls against corrosion and providing GRP boats with additional waterproofing and protection against osmosis.
Because the copper granules in CunNiGuard provide 100 per cent coverage it ensures maximum protection. This is unlike other antifouling systems that use pure copper granules or a biocide suspended in resin and require frequent abrasion to bring the active ingredient to the surface. CuNiGuard, on the other hand, remains fully active regardless of the amount of vessel movement and requires very little in the way of maintenance. There is no need to hoist-out the boat to regularly pressure wash or abrade its surface so it is also ideal for boats that may spend prolonged periods on a mooring without use.
The average cost of using CuNiGuard is calculated at around GB£65 per square metre. Because a single application will last for many years and will also eliminate the need for regular hoisting-out and re-launching, the long term cost savings can be substantial. It will also liberate the owner from an unpleasant task that many see as one of the major drawbacks to boat ownership.
CuNiGuard does not contain biocides or TBTs and has a low leaching rate so it has a minimal impact upon the surrounding environment. The system has been fully approved by the UK Health & Safety Executive after testing that proved its compliance with UK and EU Law. It is recognised for use within the marine environment and holds its own HSE Certification Number.
The quality of CuNiGuard antifouling is also ensured by its only being available through an expanding network of professional applicators. The company is now welcoming the interest of potential applicators for whom full training is provided. This is expected to make it an attractive new business opportunity for many individuals, for boat yards and also for boat builders that can offer a long lasting antifouling as an additional feature for their products.

Aero Training & Safety Sdn Bhd launches Unique & Innovative airline type program for Flight Schools
PR Log (Press Release) –
Jan 03, 2010 – Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia. The airline industry worldwide is facing the biggest challenge in its history, an acute pilot shortage that will force some airlines to ground aircraft and cancel flights for lack of pilots. Already experts around the world agree that the industry will require in excess of 19,000 new pilots every year for the next two decades. At full capacity, flight schools around the world can’t meet that demand and new capacity must be created where the need is the most present, Asia and the Middle East.
Recent events in the United States have highlighted the shortage of flight instructors and as the result, the numerous accidents during flight training. Already foreign airlines are looking for alternative locations for their cadets that were traditionally trained in the US, Europe and Canada.
This is a great opportunity to bring back the training to the ASEAN countries.
Aero Training & Safety has built its reputation worldwide with providing Governments, aircraft manufacturers, airlines and flight schools with proven solutions and a hands-on approach rather than a simple advisory role.
ATS has spent years developing the Total Training Solution, a turnkey program that can be implemented in an existing flight school interested in upgrading itself to airline oriented flight training or for investors interested in building new capacity in flight training within the region.
The ATS Total Training Solution has already a proven track record with over 900 former students currently flying for all major airlines in China and India. All were trained from zero to the right seat of a transport aircraft in 12 months or less with the ATS Total Training Solution. The program includes everything from manuals, personnel selection and management, management software, English course and all the management support needed to upgrade an existing flight school or start a new one from the ground up.
The ATS principals have decades of aviation expertise and experience as captains for major airlines in Europe, the United States and Asia before moving up all the way to President of airlines and advisors to the aviation authorities and airlines throughout the world.
Whether you are already involved in flight training or interested in entering the flight training industry as it begins its most prolific years, contact Aero Training & Safety for a one on one briefing.
