"The LANXESS exhibition shares many interesting stories, such as early attempts before the first motor vehicle was built and a bizarre invention that turned out to be the mother of today's high-tech inflatable tires," explains Kaye Lim, LANXESS's Asia Pacific Vice President of Corporate Communications
Lim added, "Efforts were made to maintain an easy-to-follow story line and include fascinating anecdotes so that the overall experience is educational and interesting to both children and adults."
LANXESS is organizing the exhibition in conjunction with its celebration of the 100th anniversary since the invention of synthetic rubber. The inventor, Fritz Hoffman, conducted his research at the laboratories of "Elberfelder Farbenfabriken vorm. Friedr. Bayer & Co." –-a company whose tradition is carried on today by the specialty chemicals group LANXESS (which was spun-off from Bayer in 2004).
Lim says, "Synthetic rubber has made significant contributions to mobility. Most people are aware of its role in tires; however synthetic rubbers are also used as critical components in cars, planes and ships. Therefore, the trend of mobility and the developments in the transportation industry are closely linked to our business—which is why we're organizing this exhibition."
